Course preparation - think about what you personally need from the course
Here are some steps you can take to identify your own training need more specifically in preparation for the Skills with People course:
- With whom do you need or wish to be more effective?
First draw up a list of the people or groups of people at work whose co-operation you need. Then shortlist the ones whose co-operation you are not entirely satisfied with or have difficulty obtaining. (You can include superiors, peers, subordinates, customers, suppliers, or anyone you wish.) - What would you like to be able to do more effectively in your dealings with them?
Pick the items most relevant to you from the list of applications on the "Skills with People" course contents page. - Do some research into what effect you are currently having on people?
Clear guidelines on how to do this research are given in A practical emotional intelligence test.
