Soft skills training for managers and professional people
According to Wikipedia on the internet the term, “Soft skills”, refers to:
“the cluster of personality traits, social graces, facility with language, personal habits, friendliness, and optimism that mark people to varying degrees. Soft skills complement hard skills, which are the technical requirements of a job.”
Fair enough in a way, but our concern is that the term, “soft skills training”, creates confusion in some people’s minds. The confusion is subtle rather than explicit, namely, that soft skills training is somehow not quite relevant to the real world of “business results”, “bottom lines” and “technical requirements of a job”; that there’s something a bit unreal and even feminine about it; it’s not quite geared up to the masculine, technical and essentially “hard” real world.
This train of thought is obviously confused nonsense. We make the point only to emphasise that "Skills with People", which has a reputation as one of the most effective soft skills training courses in the UK, actually makes you tougher, harder to resist, harder to refuse, and more able to achieve what you want in the world. In fact it’s hard for you to be successful either in life or at work without the skills it teaches, and this is supported by recent scientific research (see emotional intelligence).
